SPC Vinyl Flooring

SPC stands for stone plastic composite — a rigid core made from limestone powder and PVC, topped with a printed wood-look layer and a clear wear layer. The core is what makes it different from ordinary vinyl: it is dense, dimensionally stable, and genuinely waterproof rather than water-resistant.

That combination makes SPC the most forgiving floor we sell. It will not swell if a dishwasher leaks, it barely moves when a Michigan winter swings the humidity, and its rigidity lets it bridge minor subfloor imperfections that would telegraph through a softer product. It is the floor we most often recommend for basements, kitchens, laundry rooms and full baths — the places where solid hardwood simply should not go.

The trade-off is underfoot feel. SPC is hard and can sound hollow without an underlayment; many of our planks come with one attached. If you want more warmth and quiet in a living space, look at WPC vinyl, which uses a softer composite core.

We stock 349 SPC products, with prices starting around $2.50 per square foot and most of the range landing between $3 and $5. Brands include MSI, Fusion, Paramount, CALI and Viking. A few manufacturers ask us not to publish their pricing online — those show “call for the best pricing in town,” and a quick phone call gets you the number.
